Light Bringer (Red Rising 6)
Author: Pierce Brown
God fucking damn it Pierce.
Light Bringer, the penultimate book in the Red Rising saga truly does not take it easy on the reader. It holds no punches, and cares little for your emotional wellbeing or attachment. It wants to hurt you.
We’re approaching the culmination of Darrow’s story and it really feels like it cranks everything up to eleven.
There are plot points here that have been building since Red Rising, and Pierce does so well to naturally evolve them in ways that make logical sense. The foresight is amazing.
Light Bringer is a game of chess in literary and heavily weaponised form.
I absolutely loved Darrow in this book. Who has taken a bit of a back seat in the preceding two books. He feels like the Reaper once more. Acting. Doing. Being.
There was some very deep and well rounded character exploration and development in Light Bringer, which combined with the daunting scale of what happens, and what is yet to come, made for a very enjoyable reading experience.
This book will make you feel all the emotions and leave you a broken and horrible mess by the end.
Pierce has set wheels in motion that will come to fruition in Red God that I don’t think any of us are really prepared for.
It’s gonna get Dark boys and girls. Bloody Damn.
