Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
Author: Gabrielle Zevin

Everyone is such a dick and so self entitled. I guess its a good representation of real life.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. The story of three best friends who create video games together, and how their lives intersect through their young and adult lives.

Also known as; these people all fucking loathe each other and are consistently horrible and treat one another with disdain and legitimate hatred.

HOW IS THIS SEEN AS A STORY OF FRIENDSHIP. EVERYONE IS AWFUL.

Ok not you Marx, you are the one angel amidst the shitstorm.

I don’t mind stories that reflect real life, especially when they’re real and not told through rose-tinted glasses. But Gabrielle Zevin, your glasses are made from poop. Is life really this horrible and bleak? Well, probably yes, but still.

There are some really nice moments, almost all of which are the result of Marx, my angel, my shining star. The only character with a semblance of self-awareness, empathy, and a poetically beautiful view of the world.

There’s a chapter where we shift to his perspective and it’s so lovely and poignant and beautiful.

Everything else is a dumpster fire.

I’m never playing a video game again.

Also Dov is arguably one of my least favourite characters in any book, ever. LEATHER PANTS AREN’T COOL MAN.

2.5/5.0 – not a bad book, but as a story I thought this was something entirely different so maybe that’s on me and this is entirely my opinion but god damn, morally grey? more like morally bankrupt
